WORKING MEMBER POLICY

PLEASE READ THE FULL POLICY BELOW BEFORE DECIDING TO BECOME A WORKING MEMBER

Ideally you would start one week prior to the first share (mid June), then pick up your first share the following Wednesday. Moving forward, every shift you work earns you the following weeks share. If you can't make it out, no share the following week. Upon arrival we will give you your shift instructions and let you at it. This is neither a class nor a hang out session so we expect you to get right to your task and work diligently for your entire shift. Most tasks will involve weeding, transplanting or bulk harvest (beans, potatoes, etc). You might be working alongside us, with our farm hand or alone so make sure you are comfortable working in all types of situations. Please be sure you can commit to work the full two hours, it can be fairly physical work.

If you decide you would like to be a working member, please come prepared.  We ask that you bring your own work gloves, water bottle, and please dress appropriately for the work and the weather. That means close toed shoes, long pants, sun protection, warm layers, raincoat/boots.

We ask that at the end of  your time with us you help in the clean up process and bring any tools or supplies you have used back to their proper place.

Because the main emphasis of the farm is the production and handling of fresh food, we ask volunteers to thoroughly wash their hands before you begin your project, any time you handle produce, after using the restroom, eating any food, fixing your hair, etc. Sickness that can be transmitted through contact or food handling must be considered before coming to work. If you are not feeling well please stay home and rest.

We also require working members to attend a brief produce safety training and short tour upon arrival to the farm for your first shift. You of course have the option to quit at any time and your shares will end.

NO PETS
